The New LFG Tool

Been poking the new LFG tool a bit on the PTR and the one thing I noticed so far is that if you enter with 2 different roles, of which one is dps...too bad, it will never (and I mean every time I have done so) enter you as dps, but as your other role.

Healer and dps? Guaranteed you'll be healing. Tank and dps? Yupyup, you must be tanking. I haven't checked what they do when you mention tank and healer in there, but I wonder.

Shortage of tanks and healers? Nah....

  1. Thank you! That's one of the things that has me nervous about the new LFG system. I'm a raiding boomkin and former tree who *can* heal but usually prefers to.. well.. blow things up. With the current system, I can go heals if we're desperate to pick someone up (which luckily in my guild is pretty rare) or if someone wants to take a turn dpsing (in which case it wouldn't matter what we queued as..). I'm kind of concerned that in the new system, all of us dualspec hybrids are going to be encouraged to just list the role we'd rather be doing. After all, it's the system making the choice for us, not the fact that we can't find a healer!

  2. I'll be interested to see what happens when I pick tank/healer .. I imagine it'll always pick tank.

  3. The interesting part is that it is indeed possible to just say, yaknow, I do not feel like healing today so I'll dps...

And then you just hope and pray that the group you get is okish.

  4. Yup, it is definitely your choice. That having been said, it seems pretty clear from PTR that there's more than 3x as many dps as healers, and more healers than tanks. So you'll have to wait a little longer .. and rely on whoever you get to do their jobs effectively.

We'll still be able to do whatever we want once we're in the instance, of course, so roles are still flexible. It's not like they're disabling dual spec or anything ..
